BBC World, the BBC's commercially funded 24-hour international news and information channel, has been appointed 'Official Broadcast Partner' for this year's Dubai Airshow, the eighth international aerospace exhibition. The agreement means a BBC World crew will be at the Dubai Airshow, which runs at the Airport Expo Dubai from December 7 to 11. They will film throughout the show for the channel's World Business Report programme.

"This will ensure news of the Dubai air show will be screened eight times a day, reaching into 267 million homes worldwide and almost a million hotel rooms," said Clive Richardson, chief executive, Aerospace Division, Fairs and Exhibitions (F&E), which is organising Dubai 2003. The deal also presents both parties with substantial marketing platforms. Dubai Airshow will benefit from BBC World advertising in print, at point-of-view stations and on the channel's web site. BBC World will also be aired on large screen monitors both inside and outside Dubai Airshow and its World Business Report will be broadcast into the air show.

To date companies from 33 countries have contracted for Dubai Airshow, which is organised by F&E in conjunction with the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and in collaboration with the UAE Armed Forces. The show also has pavilion commitments from Italy, The Netherlands, the UK, USA, France, Germany, Russia, and, for the first time, the Ukraine and Jordan. The Dubai Airshow affiliated conference programme includes events focusing on defence and IT for the aerospace industry and aviation finance (The Khaleej Times)
