Under the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ministry of Interior has organized a committee for identifying the bedoons in the country and initiate proceedings for their UAE naturalization.

The committee has already made the first list of 1294 people without citizenships, who were staying in this country before 2nd December 1971 and they will be provided UAE citizenship, said Brigadier Abdul Aziz Maktoum Al Shareefi, director of the Preventive Security Department and the committee chief.

He also mentioned that the committee is in contact with other security agencies to identify the credentials of the left out people who have documents to prove their country of origin and period of stay in the UAE. "To obtain the UAE citizenship, those without any citizenship of any country must have been staying in the UAE before the 2nd December 1971 and have not left the country any time.

They must produce true information and original documents to prove their identities and other credentials required as per the naturalization regulations and possess the police verification certificate." Al Shareefi added. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
