The UAE Red Crescent Society's charity boxes project that was launched with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan has witnessed a tremendous response from Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman residents who donated tonnes of clothes for the noble cause that lends a supportive hand to less privileged people living in poor countries.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarouni, Director of the Dubai branch of the UAE Red Crescent, told "Khaleej Times” that the humanitarian project was organised in cooperation with Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman City Centres where each centre allocated a certain area at the entrance to the centre to drop off the charity bags donated by people.

The huge number of donated bags forced us to transport them more than three times per day from the centre to our premises. People's keenness towards donating clothes to needy people has proved that charity work is always cherished in the people minds,” Al Zarouni said while praising the noble move of the three city centres in allocating a designated area of their centre for this cause.

"As a government authority accomplishing various noble goals in the UAE and abroad, we hope we are a successful means of spreading welfare and good standard of living to those living in various poor countries.” he said, while paying his tribute to all people who willingly donated clothes that will contribute in alleviating the pains and suffering of those living in harsh conditions.
