Board of Trustees of UAE Water Aid Foundation showcases achievements in providing humanitarian support

The Board of Trustees of UAE Water Aid Foundation has conducted its fourth meeting at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation, and attended by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs of United Arab Emirates University, Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President of Khalifa University, Waleed Ali Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at DEWA, and Mohammed Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of the UAE Water Aid Foundation.

At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed the members and praised the UAE Water Aid Foundation for its role in supporting international efforts to provide drinking water through a strong presence in critical areas, and emergency and long-term aid across the world. Al Tayer commended the move of establishing the organisation by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to promote the UAE's position globally and improve living conditions of the poor and affected communities in various countries, and achieve sustainable development for all, as well as joining up with international offers to provide clean drinking water.

The Acting Executive Director of the UAE Water Aid Foundation showcased the latest achievements and activities of UAE Water Aid over the past few months, which included the distribution of more than 111,000 packs of bottled drinking water for those fasting in the UAE through local charity and NGO institutions. Under the directives of the nation's wise leadership and in cooperation with the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development, MICAD, 50,000 packs were sent to those affected in Yemen.

During the meeting, the steps taken by the foundation to outline its finalised vision and mission and the objectives and activities of the foundation were also discussed, as well as its participation in the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition, WETEX, the finalisation of its introductory brochure, and the launch of its website.

The members also discussed the preparations for the launch of the UAE Water Aid Foundation Awards and the significance of cooperation with universities to stay updated with scientific research.

UAE Water Aid Foundation aims to provide access to clean water to people in need and distressed all over the world as well as finding innovative and permanent solutions for the lack of water through using technological and modern techniques, especially solar energy. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395286148613.html
