Bus-sized ambulance at IDEX

Hafilat is showing a bus-sized ambulance operated by the Abu Dhabi Police. The fully-equipped ambulance joins seven other bus-based ambulances that have proven the concept.

Abu Dhabi Police unit has responded to major accidents on the road to Dubai, notably in 2008 when some 200 vehicles were involved. Normally, a minimum of four medical staff, a doctor and three assistant, will respond to a major accident, but the number varies according to severity of the accident. The ambulance, which can do the job of three standard vehicles, can accommodate up to 15 stretcher cases. Moreover, the advanced medical equipment carried by the vehicle, such as defibrillator and a suction machine, enables a first response to be taken. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
