California Government grants appreciation certificate to Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival

LOS ANGELES: The Government of California, U.S., has granted a certificate of appreciation to the H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Festival for Purebred Arabian Horses, in recognition for its excellence and interest in the Arabian horses and supporting the equestrian sports at the local, regional and international levels, as well as its role in supporting sportswomen in the equestrian discipline.

California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de Le'on handed over the certificate of appreciation to Abdullah Al Sabousi, Consul-General of the UAE in Los Angeles and Aref Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies, IFHRA, and Chairperson of the Ladies and Apprentice Racing Committee in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities.

He praised the significant role played by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs in promoting the purebred Arabian horses and the dissemination of horse races across the world.

He also lauded the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, for her contribution to upgrading the equestrian sports and her constant support for the women sports worldwide.

This came during a charity "gala dinner", which was held yesterday at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, at the conclusion of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak- Darley Award, which was held under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

A number of important figures, who contributed to the equestrian sports were also honoured during the ceremony. They included Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the General Women's Union for her role in supporting Emirati women, Dr. Fadia Karam, Dr. Nader Sa'ab and Commentator Abdullah Al Maamari for their prominent role in supporting the equestrian activities.

The festival also honoured Shathra Al Hajaj, Nouf Abdullah, and the Italian Endurance team participating in the World Endurance Championship.

Lara Sawaya extended thanks to H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for her patronage of the award, noting that the festival has succeeded in bringing the Arabian horse fans together to paying attention to Arabian horses. She added that the "Darley Award" has become a strong incentive for creativity and engagement in competition of different categories of the award. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
