Campaign for Bu Tina Island launched in Fujairah

A campaign in support of voting for Bu Tinah Island off Abu Dhabi in its bid to become one of the New7Wonders of Nature was launched Wednesday of Fujairah in a ceremony yesterday. The New7Wonders of Nature contest was launched in 2007 in the wake of a campaign to find the man-made Official New7Wonders of the World, in which more than 100 million votes were cast.

The campaign was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, crown prince who had inaugurated who casted his vote for the island and urged nationals and expatriates to do so in support of the island which is part of the Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve and is home to a diverse ecosystem that includes endangered species including hawksbill turtles and dugong. He also urged officials of the emirate's departments to provide all facilities for voters. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
