Cardinal Nasrallah Sfeir hails Khalifa's support to Lebanese

Cardinal Nasrallah Sfeir, Patriarch of the Maronite Church in Lebanon has commended the unstinted support extended to the Lebanese people by President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In a verbal message conveyed by Father Lewis Samah, Chairman of the Lebanese Caritas during a meeting here Tuesday with Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Red Crescent Society, Cardinal Sfeir said the UAE had been a strong backer of the Lebanese causes.



"The UAE was among the first countries to come to the aid of the Lebanese people during their recent ordeal", Father Lewis quoted the Maronite Patriarch as saying.



Father Lewis cited the role played by the RCS on the instructions of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, RCS Chairman during the air bridge to Lebanon , which he said, was the life line for the many Lebanese during the war. "The RCS was a towering example of human brotherhood during that war" he said.

For his The RCS official re-affirmed the commitment of the UAE under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa to lend help where and whenever needed by the Lebanese. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
