A cargo plane carrying relief supplies left Abu Dhabi for N'djamena on Monday to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Chad.

The cargo was dispatched by UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) with support from HH Sheikh Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan at the advent of the Holy month of Ramadan.

Over 44 tons of various relief items will be distributed among the poor segments that suffer the brunt of the humanitarian situation in Chad. A team of volunteers are on board the plane to implement the distribution of essential supplies. Acting Deputy Secretary General for Relief and projects at the RCA Naima Eid Al-Muhairi said that the UAE Red Crescent has been present on the Chadian front since the nineties of the last century and contributes strongly to improve the humanitarian situation of the population there. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
