The Carpet and Art Oasis Exhibition, an event organised by Dubai Customs as a part of the Dubai Shopping Festival 2015, drew to a close on 1st February, having achieved another record with sales of more than Dh98 million during a period of 32 days.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, said that the annual oasis exhibition is a catalyst for the growth of the carpet retail sector, saying, "This year's edition brought together 42 local and international exhibitors, showcasing their products through 58 pavilions. As many as 220,000 carpets with an estimated net market value of Dh2 billion were on display, double the value of Dubai's foreign trade in carpets during 2013." Musabih lauded the fruitful synergy with Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the organisers of DSF, in driving tourism traffic into Dubai. "Our strategic partners have played an indispensable role in taking the oasis exhibition towards such success and greater glory ever since its inception 1996," he added.

Dubai Customs held the closing ceremony of the 20th Carpet and Art Oasis in Dubai Festival City, during which Abdullah Al Khaja, Executive Director of Customer Management Division at DC congratulated the key strategic partners and government entities.

Abdul Rahman Issa, Chairman of the Carpet Oasis' Steering Committee from Dubai Customs, said, "This year's sales turnover climbed above Dh98 million earned from over 3,000 carpets that were sold. The estimated sales of the last 19 years comes close to Dh1.7 billion. More than 2.5 million carpets have been on display and over one million visitors flocked to enjoy the beauty of spinning art." – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
