Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces meets US Defence Chief Official

Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi met today with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of United States Admiral Mike Mullen and the accompanying delegation, who are currently on a visit to the UAE to take part in the 10th International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2011).

In a meeting held at his office at the IDEX site, Lt. Gen Al-Rumaithi reviewed with the US Defence official, the standing relations of cooperation between UAE and US and explored ways for enhancing them on various levels, especially with regard to coordination of military and defence cooperation between the two countries. They also discussed a number of issues of common concern.

Lt. General Al-Rumaithi also received at his office the Croatian Minister of Defence Davor Bozinovic, Chief of Defence Command of Finland Lt. General Markku Koli, High Ranking officials of Austrian Armed Forces, Chief of the Joint Peninsula Shield Force Major General Metleg Bin Salem Al-Uzaimaa and Minister of Defence Industries of Azerbaijan Yavar Jamalov.

In separate meetings, Al-Rumaithi discussed with the visiting dignitaries bilateral relations and cooperation between UAE and their respective countries. They praised the continuing success of IDEX and hailed the launch of the naval exhibition NAVDEX. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
