Coptic Church calls off X-mas celebrations

On behalf of Pope Shenuda III and Archbishop Abraham, the Egyptian Coptic Church here called off all Christmas Day celebrations on Saturday due to mourning on the death of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who died in Australia on Wednesday.



The Church also offered condolences to President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.



A requiem was held at the Church in Abu Dhabi which was attended by Ali Al Haemi, the Religious and Judicial Advisor at the Presidential Palace and Ahmed Mubarak Al Kindi, Under Secretary for Mosques at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
