The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) announced today that the Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) had joined its humanitarian initiative 'Charity Dirham' to deliver assistance to needy people inside and outside the country. The project offers DIB's ATM users the option to donate one dirham with every transaction.

RCS Chairman Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi said the joining of DIB to the 'Charity Dirham' initiative as a key partner reflects its humanitarian stance and commitment towards charity work in the country. The initiative offers a valuable opportunity for people who would like to contribute to charitable causes whenever they can and the partnership with DIB provides a simple and easy means of giving back to the community,' he added.

'Over three million dirhams were collected since the initiative was launched with National Bank of Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank 18 months back,' he said during a joint press conference today with top DIB executives. hen DIB account holders use any one of the bank's 101 ATMs located across the UAE, a pop up screen appears asking customers if they would like to donate one dirham to the Red Crescent. If the account holders choose to donate, then the money will be transferred to the Red Crescent directly. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
