The Dar Al Ber Society, DABS, in response to the ‘Show Compassion' campaign, is to donate Dh1 million to aid in the relief of one million refugees and the people in the Levant affected by the winter.

The initiative, dubbed ‘Tarahamu' in Arabic, has been launched by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to help Syrian refugees survive the powerful snow storm Huda expected to hit the region in the coming days.

The drive, to see participation of all government departments and private sector institutions, includes representatives of the Emirates Red Crescent, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, International Humanitarian City, Dubai Cares, Abu Dhabi Media Company, Dubai Media Inc. and all newspapers and local radio stations.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, Executive Director of the Dubai government-run Dar Al Ber Society, said they are all set to effectively participate in the nationwide campaign in pursuance to the directives of the UAE prudent leadership.

"Urgent relief supplies, to include blankets, clothes, and foodstuff, are to be airlifted to thousands of displaced Syrian refugees hosted by Arab countries to ease their suffering during the ferocious storm that dumped massive piles of snow on their camps." The Dar Al Ber Society is to open door for contributions to the campaign as of Friday, January 9th, in all mosques of Dubai, as well as promoting the drive in newspapers, on its website and through its accounts on social media.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed said donations will also be collected by the Dar Al Ber live radio programme ‘Heavens Gates', being exclusively broadcast on Noor Dubai radio every Friday.

"Philanthropists may give their donations to any of the society reps at its headquarters on Sheikh Zayed road or branches across the country, and at malls, shopping centres, and cooperative societies." – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395274813217.html
