Deals worth Dh775 million signed at IDEX 2007

The UAE Armed Forces announced on Monday that it signed deals with worth Dh775 million with local and international companies participating at IDEX 2007.

Speaking at a news conference, Major General Obaid Al Qitbi, Chief of Logistics at the UAE Armed Forces said that the Armed Forces had signed a deal worth Dhs.127 million with an Abu Dhabi-based company - the Abu Dhabi Shipping Building Company (ADSBC) to purchase 12 fast patrol boats.

"We have also singed a memorandum of understanding with EADS to purchase three air tankers ", said Al Qitbi, who is also IDEX Official Spokesman.

Caracal, a local UAE company specialised in defence products also won a Dh18 million deal to supply the Armed Forces with a total of 10,000 pistols. Another local company to have won a contract from the Armed Forces was the International Golden Group, which clinched a Dh390 million deal to supply 120mm mortars. Al Qitbi also told reporters that the army was in talks with Harris of the United States to purchase telecommunication equipment worth Dh240 million. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
