Defence spending is no burden to federal budget : Mohammed

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, denied last Wednesday that military spending by the UAE had cast weigh on the federal budget. 'Military spending is made as per the requirement and new developments in the view of modernisation of military equipment and of our defence and training needs,' Sheikh Mohammed affirmed in press statements during a tour of the 8th international Dubai air show.

Commenting on the multi-billion deals inked by Emirates Airline during the show, Sheikh Mohammed said , ' these deals were meant to meet requirements of rapid growth as well as modernisation and expansion plans.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied during the tour by Lt. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Deputy Crown Prince and Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Chairman, Major General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police and a number of senior civilian and military officials.
