Dh50m spent on aid in UAE

The UAE Red Crescent Society aid programmes inside the country reached Dh 50 million during the first half of 2006. The amount was spent on programmes to help needy families and individuals and on charity projects implemented in the country.



"The RCS is pressing ahead with its aid programmes according to specific strategies to grant aid to the entitled people in the UAE," Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, RCS Board Chairman said.



Al Suweidi praised the support given to RCS operations by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and RCS Chairman.



He also thanked the philanthropists who continued to offer contributions in support of the RCS local projects. Meanwhile, the Programme to Support & Rebuild Lebanon continued its initiative to distribute gifts to Lebanese orphans. The gifts were offered by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Nahyan on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
