More than Dh9 million has been collected so far for UAE Red Crescent Society's charitable projects during Ramadan and Eid festival, which is well over initial expectations, according to festival organisers. Ahmed Obeyed Al Mansard, media and communications director of the General Exhibitions Corporation, which has collaborated with RCS in organising the festival, said this year's festival was better in terms of team work, co-ordination, technology and designs of pavilions and stands, and in terms of visitor turnout thereby proving profitable to all, according to a report in "Chalk Times.” He said expectations from the festival had been justified, with nearly 15,000 people visiting the festival during week days and 25,000 on the weekends. Last year's festival entertained over 150,000 visitors which he said was proof of its huge popularity. He said purpose of this year's festival had been to draw in more visitors and extend the events appeal to a more cross- section of people and this objective had been comfortably achieved. Yesterday marked Egyptian Night at the festival, which concludes on December 21, the report said. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
