The price of diesel will rise by nine fils to Dh2.45 per litre in Dubai and Northern Emirates from Thursday.
This is the first price hike for diesel in 2010, and the fourth change since June 2009 when price was at a low of Dh9.40 per gallon, said Khalid Hadi, group brand and marketing manager for Enoc and Eppco, diesel distributors in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
The increase was in line with current global oil prices. The three retailers — Emarat, Enoc and Eppco — have agreed to hike the price.
Diesel price began to rally in June 2009 after a steady fall during the previous year from a peak of Dh19.25 per gallon or Dh5 per litre in July 2008.
The hike is not effective in Abu Dhabi where diesel price will remain at the prevailing level at all Adnoc filling stations. – Khaleej Times
