Diff widens its network of media partners this year posted on 06/12/2009
This year's Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) comes with additional fervour and zeal as organisers have expanded their canvass of tie-ups, balancing the conventional along with new media platforms, according to festival organisers.
Apart from their previous supporters, which mainly included newspapers and publications, Diff organisers have accommodated digital media and have, thereby, adopted innovative media, to get across a wider cross-section of audience.
The new line-up includes digital media with more than 10 leading publishers, television channels and digital companies on board as media partners.
Diff's Director of Marketing and Sponsorship, Mahsa Motamedi, said the media plays a crucial role in effectively conveying the message of Diff β 'Bridging cultures, meeting minds'.
"As is the norm at Diff, we are moving in tune with the trends. This year, too, we have formed strong media partnerships, including new channels that reach out to a wider audience. Diff is partnering with a good cross section of organisations, across all levels of media, to help us deliver our core messages regionally and internationally," she added.
Elaborating on the coverage by media partners, Diff officials said while the team at Variety will exclusively produce a special daily publication covering Diff activities, Dubai Television will cover the ceremony live.
Meanwhile, Diff continues to maintain its partnerships with print and audio-visual organisations. The Dubai Media Incorporated, with a vast network of TV channels and newly-acquired newspapers Al Bayan, Emarat Al Youm and Emirates Business is leading the media campaign for Diff, along with other media houses that include Arab Media Group; France 24; Good News Cinema; Gulf News; Ahlan!; MBC; Google Youtube; Zee TV; e-Vision; Variety the international premier source of entertainment news; Emirates Neon Group and Orbit Showtime as media partners.
Diff's media partnerships also highlight the growing interest of the global media in the festival, which is now regarded as the most definitive film festival in the Middle East, Afria and Asia.
Compared with 450 media registrations in the opening year, Diff had 1,165 accredited media last year, covering the event β an increase of more than 150 per cent. This has, in turn, translated to a phenomenal growth in audience participation too β with the number of admissions growing by more than 110 per cent in five years.
The UAE audience can enjoy several fine movies this year, which include the world premiere of City of Life, the first multilingual Emirati film by Ali F Mostafa; Indian superstar Ranbir Kapoor's Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year and Hollywood's spellbinding sensation from Titanic director James Cameron β Avatar.
Now in its sixth year, Diff 2009 is held in association with Dubai Studio City and will be held from December 9 to 16. β Emirates Business 24|7
