Donations for the UAE's Show Compassion campaign, which seeks to raise funds to provide winter aid for one million refugees and people in the Levant countries and Iraq to help them survive the powerful snowstorm, on Saturday totalled Dh163 million on the campaign's fourth day. The relief teams continue to distribute the emergency aid to refugees in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq's Kurdistan Region.

The donations raised by the Show Compassion campaign include Dh5 million from Emirates Airline, Dh1 million from Ghaith Group (of Hamil bin Ghaith), Dh1 million from businessman M.A. Yousuf Ali, Dh1 million from Al Rostamani Group, as well as direct cash donations by members of the public through the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).

Schools and government departments will organise activities in the coming two days to raise more cash and in-kind donations in response to the call of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.

The humanitarian campaign, dubbed ‘Tarahamu' in Arabic, was launched Tuesday by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is being followed up by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The campaign which continues until Tuesday seeks to raise donations for one million people and refugees in camps in Jordan, Lebanon, Gaza and other Palestinian regions, as well as Kurdistan Region, being hit by the blizzard Huda, also dubbed Zeina, which is bringing down temperatures to as low as four degrees Centigrade below zero with heavy snow, hail, and rain, and with wind speeds exceeding 110 Km/h. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395274891613.html
