Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, affirmed the importance of the speech by the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the occasion of the 41st UAE National Day, as a roadmap to achieve success in all fields to enhance the UAE's position on the global stage.

He pointed out that the speech by the President reflects his keenness to strengthen the empowerment programme, announced in 2005, to develop the political and public participation mechanism in the UAE through organisational cooperation, especially between the executive and legislative authorities, which in turn contributes to overall development of the country.

Dr Gargash declared that the 2011 UAE election held considerable significance having paved the way for new members, including women, to enter the FNC, reflecting the evolution of the UAE's political outlook. He asserted that the federal government has done its best to meet the FNC's demands and address national issues transparently and effectively.

Praising the ministers for attending the FNC sessions and diligently answering questions of FNC members, he affirmed the importance of coordination between the government and the FNC and effective discussion on public affairs and draft laws to achieve the UAE's vision to modernise the political process.

The recommendations and feedbacks of the FNC are given due importance by the Cabinet headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Dr Gargash pointed out the second round of the 15th legislative term of the FNC coincides with the changes taking place in most parts of the Arab world, especially the Arab Spring states. In this context, he declared that all members must extend full support to the country's leadership.

Stating that the political leadership is keen to enhance participation culture, Dr Gargash said that the announcement of the empowerment programme in 2005 has contributed to taking forward the country's political process.

He declared that the UAE's federal experience established on organisational fundamentals is subject to change according to the internal and regional changes. He noted that the need is to strengthen the cooperation between organisations to achieve more success. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
