Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and the Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, has lauded the initiative of Dubai Attorney-General, Issam Al Humaidan, to set up a permanent task force of specialists exclusively to deal with human trafficking cases.

The team will be headed by Khalifa Bin Dimas Al Suwaidi, head of the Dubai Attorney-General's office, who is also a member of the National Committee.

Dr. Gargash described the move as a unique initiative supporting the efforts of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking and further empowers the Committee's role by creating specialized task forces.

According to Dr Gargash, this will benefit all involved parties and contribute to strengthening mechanisms and ways of tackling the crime in UAE territories through enhanced coordination and cooperation.

The newly formed team will look into human trafficking cases and will accelerate Dubai's Public Prosecution specialists' training process and elevate their capabilities and skills in tackling human trafficking cases.

The team will have experienced specialists, which will energize support and assistance to human trafficking victims. The taskforce will also have women investigators to facilitate the investigation process, thus removing any obstacle between investigating authorities and women victims.

The initiative will also strengthen cooperation and communication between involved parties including police forces, the Public Prosecution and social care organizations, especially the Dubai Charity Association. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
