The 9th International Aerospace Exhibition, Dubai 2005, has once again set new records not only in the number of participation but also in the volume of contracts signed. Deals totalling about Dh100 billion were signed at this year's edition of the show, the highest in the history of the biennial event.

The deals include a US$500,000 deal struck between Jordanian Airline and the Sea Bird Aviation, based on which the latter will supply the former two Seeker EB7-360 reconnaissance planes. One of the two planes would be given to the United Nations to be used in the monitoring operations in areas hit by disasters throughout the world to serve as a peace mission to the world. The other is to be presented to Yemen.

Meanwhile, Fairs and Exhibitions, organisers of the international event, which ended today, has announced that this year's show had attracted more than 35,000 visitors, a rise of 7000 compared to the 2003 show and 5000 more than those who visited the biennial show in 2001. The next edition is scheduled to be held from November 11 to 15, 2007. Seven hundred and twenty six companies from 46 countries participated in the Dubai 2005 Airshow, in addition to 15 national pavilions. More than 100 planes were displayed at the show which recorded a growth of 25% compared to the previous edition. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
