Dubai Executive Council (DEC) held in Dubai yesterday at the Emirates Towers Hotel its ordinary meeting presided over by its new Chairman, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is presiding over the meeting for the first time since his appointment to the post last week.

Sheikh Hamdan opened the meeting with a keynote address in which he expressed profound gratitude and deep appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for reposing in him his deep trust by entrusting to him the new responsibility as DEC chairman.

He said he would certainly work hard to live up to the expectation of the Dubai Ruler by following the steps of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, from whom, he said, he had learnt and would continue to learn a lot.

Sheikh Hamdan pledged to work closely with members of the DEC in order to achieve the emirate's aspiration of developing national works through total coordination and cooperation of actions among all concerned institutions.

He urged both the public and private sectors in Dubai to continue to work harder to preserve and build on the achievements of the nation and to maintain the country's high reputation at the regional and international levels.

He said the coming years demand more serious approach to work and improvement of government performance, particularly regarding strategic planning of financial activities, professional competence and all what would push forward the wheel of development.

He urged all departments to strive for self development and to establish new channels of cooperation and cooperation with other departments, in implementation of the good spirit of team work.

The Council reviewed a number of issues on the agenda of the meeting. It called for the speedy completion of the Dubai Strategic Plan in order to move forward to a new and more advanced stage of government work. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
