Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, has confirmed her support for the initiative of the Dubai Executive Council, DEC, to create a universal UAE fingerprint in the field of digital technology, represented in the "Dubai Font" that was launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the DEC, as a gift from Dubai to the world, reflecting the government's role in embracing tolerance.

Sheikha Lubna stated that the Dubai Font represents certain original values that the UAE is proud of, notably tolerance, happiness, giving, courage and modernity, adding that it also encourages creativity, innovation, pride in cultural heritage, co-existence and constructive co-operation with other peoples, which comply with the pillars and goals of the National Tolerance Programme that the UAE had previously declared.

She made her statement during her visit to Dubai Design District, D3, to view its exhibited artworks, under the framework of the recent launch of the Dubai Font, in the presence of Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the DEC.

Al Qasimi said, "We are delighted to support the "Dubai Font" initiative, which aims to revive an original value in the UAE community that is tolerance, which our beloved country is trying to convey to the entire world, with an emphasis on the mutual human traits that unite us."

She stated that the Dubai Font initiative is a universal programme that goes beyond local and regional boundaries to include the entire world, while highlighting the UAE's leading role in the region to promote the values of tolerance and understanding. She described this initiative as a creative step in translating the country's efforts to support cohesion and unity between different populations through linguistic communication and self-expression in an innovative way, to promote cultural pluralism and respect for others.

"The UAE has adopted, since its establishment by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a unique methodology of tolerance and co-existence. This methodology has continued in the era of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, confirmed by the UAE government, under the leadership of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, by creating the Ministry of Tolerance with the aim of sustaining the values of tolerance, compassion and co-existence between all segments of UAE society," she added.

Abdulla Al Shaibani thanked Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi for her ongoing support for the various initiatives of the DEC, especially the Dubai Font initiative, which contains all the components that made Dubai an icon of tolerance and success.

He added that Dubai Font was designed in the Arabic and English languages to achieve the desired harmony between them, as well as 21 other languages within the framework of the project, reflecting the UAE's noble values to support tolerance and co-existence between different populations.

He highlighted that H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum directed that the Dubai Font will be a gift from Dubai to the world, highlighting the national messages promoting the values of acceptance and respect for others. http://wam.ae/en/details/1395302615081
