The Protocol and Guest House Department in Dubai has recently announced the launch of a public portal http://protocol.dubai.ae that features the foreign and diplomatic affairs of the State and official events attended by their Highnesses the Sheikhs or events organised under their patronage.

Khalifa Saeed Suliman, the General Director of the Department while commenting on the launching of the portal referred to the assistance rendered by Dubai eGovernment in creating the Protocol website in order to elevate standards of services provided by the Department.

By logging on to http://protocol.dubai.ae, users can be introduced to activities and duties undertaken by the Department, which is responsible for managing the etiquette of diplomacy and official visits carried out by His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to other countries, while coordinating with other authorities organizing conferences, meetings and international exhibitions in the UAE and particularly in Dubai.

"Since 1977, the Department has been managing the formal duties and events for their Highnesses the Sheikhs, such as welcoming and seeing off all dignitaries and delegations visiting the UAE and communicating with the relevant authorities in the UAE and abroad with regard to all diplomatic affairs and all matters related thereto," said Saeed Suliman.

In addition to information and photographs, the website features an online services section that represents an open channel of communication for users to interact more closely with the Department for organising an event in Dubai or to set up an official meeting with their Highnesses the Sheikhs.

"Dubai eGovernment is committed to establishing an excellent infrastructure of online services which translate the role and objectives of eGovernment as we prepare for a robust digital society. The website, which will be uploaded and maintained using eHost, provided by Dubai eGovernment, will highlight the working and the role of the Protocol and Guest House Department. It will also strengthen the ties between the government and its public while providing open channels of communication," said Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment.
