As part of Dubai's ambition and commitment to excellence, the city is coming together to set an extraordinary pyrotechnic record on 31st December that aims to light up the Dubai skyline with spectacular firework displays.

To facilitate Dubai's outstanding new plan to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Firework Display', traffic management across Dubai is being co-ordinated by respective authorities. Many of Dubai's relevant entities, such as the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Police and the Dubai Events Security Committee, have joined forces to stage World Record 2014 and to design an extravagant event, the like of which has never been seen before.

The dazzling show will start with a six-minute display choreographed across the whole of The Palm Jumeirah and the islands of The World. The sheer magnitude of the performance will be remarkable with over 200 expert pyro technicians, 400 firing locations and 100 computers networked to control the show down to the millisecond.

With the aim of safeguarding the safety of residents and visitors alike, a number of traffic management measures will be implemented throughout The Palm Jumeirah .To ease the process for residents and allow them to move freely before the display commences, special passes will be provided to every home.

Residents of the development are advised to be informed of traffic management measures and to follow the permitted access timetable, in order to minimise any inconvenience and traffic disruptions on New Year's Eve.

8amto 9pm: Access only to Resident and Visitor Pass holders in their personal vehicles, and passengers in taxis holding Visitor Passes 9pm-10:30pm: Access only to passengers in taxis holding Visitor Passes 10:30pm-1am:No access Due to the exceptional scale of the event, residents of the fronds are being requested to minimize the number of guest vehicles to five cars per villa. Each vehicle will be issued a Car Pass. Walking around The Palm Jumeirah will be restricted from 10:30pm onwards to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the show.

Other applicable safety and security measures on 31 December will include restrictions on swimming and kayaking. All delivery vehicles and outside caterers must have an Event Pass and all deliveries should be made prior to 5pm. The Palm Jumeirah monorail will be closed from 26 December to 2 January.

Further communications outlining the specifics of the traffic management plans will be shared with the public through various media platforms and channels in the near future. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
