E-transfer of medical test results for visa renewal

Expatriates undergoing their medical tests every three years for renewal of residence visas no longer need to visit the clinic to collect the result. Instead, the result will be electronically transmitted via an e-link, as part of the larger e-government project.

The e-Clinic project will be done on a trial basis, according to an announcement yesterday by the Clinical and Medical Services Section of Dubai Municipality's Public Health Department. In the coming three weeks the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) will be e-linked electronically.

Zohoor Al Sabbagh, head of the section, said that the project would prove to be a step towards total e-Government and added that the sections aims to ease work procedure and cut down on time and cost for all. "The municipality has plans to enhance and to manage the large volume of applications and clinical services through the use of Information Technology."

Another official said: "To apply for a residence visa one needs a health card, which can be obtained with a medical certificate in some government clinics, including the municipality clinic." He said that after doing the medical test at the clinic the result will automatically go to the DNRD. He noted that the clinic serves companies and individuals in Dubai that apply for occupational health cards and medical certificates. (The Gulf News)
