The US Ambassador to the UAE, Michele Sison said yesterday that specialised exhibitions are a vital tool in enhancing cooperation and technology transfer between the US and other countries in the region. Her remarks were made during her visit to the US pavilion at ENVIRONMENT 2005, the 3rd International Exhibition & Conference on the environment which concluded yesterday.

Ambassador Sison, toured the exhibition hall at ENVIRONMENT 2005 accompanied by Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, Director General of General Exhibitions Corporation. ENVIRONMENT 2005 is organised by the GEC and Environmental Research and Wildlife Development Agency (ERWDA).

"We are happy to participate in ENVIRONMENT 2005, an event that is considered one of the biggest in the Middle East North Africa region. We are pleased with the level of organisation and the opportunity that the event provides for US companies as it is a great platform to display the latest technologies in the environmental field", added Ambassador Sison.

"Some of the US companies taking part in ENVIRONMENT 2005 are participating for the very first time and are looking at good business prospects from this region. A few of the companies have highlighted their interest in establishing manufacturing facilities in the UAE due to the excellent infrastructure available here", she added. Running in parallel with the exhibition, a scientific conference is also taking place under the theme "Sustainable Transportation in Developing Countries". (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
