Egyptian Agriculture Minister Essam Faye presented the trophy to Dr. Al Jaber during the opening ceremony of the 17th Arabian Horse Championship, being hosted by Egypt at Al Zahraa Stud in Cairo.

'I have the honour to receive this commemorative shield on behalf of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, who pays special attention and care to Arabian purebred horses due to the fact that he was raised by his father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late founding father, who always showed deep interest in adhering to the local legacy and promoting of culture of reviving sports associated with forefathers including horsemanship. Today, the UAE leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, lends proper care to these genuine equine values,' Dr. Al Jaber said on receiving the honour.

He indicated that Sheikh Mansour had directed that avenues of joint co-operation for development of equine activities at Al Zahraa Stud be explored in recognition of the role of Egypt in preserving and caring for Arabian purebred horses, which constitute an integral part of our ancient past and authentic present. Horses are key symbols of heritage and culture in the Arab World.

The Egyptian minister expressed profound thanks to HH Sheikh Mansour, saying the initiative for developing the Egyptian equine sports was not alien to brothers in the UAE.

He also thanked Dr. Al Jaber for travelling from the UAE to attend the championship.

According to Middle East News Agency (MENA), the competition will be held at Al Zahraa Stud over two stages, a local one and international one.
