The cargo ships carrying 850,000 tons of wheat given by President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as gift to Egypt; have arrived at the Egyptian ports. Over 85pc of the wheat ordered by Sheikh Khalifa to be delivered to Egypt is now at the container terminals in Egypt. The wheat is given by the government and people of UAE as a gift of benevolence to the people of Egypt to lessen their hardships brought about by spiralling prices for staple food.

Egypt will receive the remaining quantity of a million tons of wheat ordered by the President within a month, a statement from Abu Dhabi Finance Department said.

Sheikh Khalifa's kind gesture follows the footprints of the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and it mirrors the love, respect and affection Sheikh Khalifa cherishes for Egypt and its people. It is also an expression of the spirit of solidarity and mutual support among the Arab countries. This generous gift will contribute to the efforts of UAE in lessening the hardships of brotherly states by way of supporting food security in those countries.
