Egyptian Interim President hails UAE's support to Egypt at critical time

Cairo: Ambassador Ihab Badawi, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman, has said the Egyptian people and government appreciate the full support of the UAE to Egypt so as to enable it achieve the future roadmap.

Badwai said at a press conference, held shortly after the meeting between Interim Egyptian President Adly Mansour and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, that Egypt is grateful about the support of the UAE to the Egyptian people's aspirations. He noted that "Egyptian people and government appreciate the support," referring to the statement of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who said, "The Arab oil is not dearer than the Arab blood".

He reiterated Egypt's commitment to the security of the Gulf, being an inseparable part of the Egyptian national strategic security, adding that Egypt is keen on furthering the ties with the UAE in all fields.

The Egyptian official said the Egyptian Interim President has emphasised the priority of the state to the future roadmap that aims at greater political participation. He added that Adly Mansour has pledged to continue the political process, citing that the draft of constitution amendment has been completed and the committee including 50 members has been formed and would finish its work within 60 days.

After completion, he added, the constitution will be presented in a referendum to people so that they express their opinion about the constitution ahead of the parliamentary and presidential elections. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
