Emirates Mobile Hospital offers treatment to 2000 patients in South Sudan

Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital, which is currently operating in South Sudan, has so far provided free treatment to over 2000 patients.

The mobile hospital was launched upon the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of Ruler in Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA).

Being the first civil mobile hospital of its kind in the world, Emirates mobile hospital was launch in the memorial of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Emirates mobile hospital has recruited elite of international specialist doctors across the world to offer the medical services to the needy patients. Learning about top doctors and the medical services being offered by the hospital, the needy patients in Juba and across the region rushed to the hospital to receive the treatment.

Khadem Al Daraei, head of the team of Emirates Mobile Hospital, stressed the significance of presence of the mobile hospital in South Sudan, adding that the hospital provided the treatment in its first week to the children and elderly people.

Al Daraei noted that the mobile hospital has recruited the medical cadres from France, South Africa, Britain and the UAE, adding that the mobile hospital will operate three month in each country as per outlined plans in this respect. He added that the mobile hospital currently operates in coordination with the Ministry of Health in South Sudan.

On his part, Dr Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive of the Zayed Charity Initiative and Executive Director of Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital, said the medical programme is being implemented as per schedules, indicating that the hospital since its inception early in August, had treated 400 children, 900 women, 700 elderly men and conducted Cardiograph, Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Echocardiogram to many heart disease patients.

He noted that the diagnosed and treated cases include thyroid diseases, diabetes, malaria, heart diseases, skin diseases, tropical diseases and others, adding that the medicines were issued to the patients free of charge.

Dr Juan Carlos Chachques, Medical Director of Emirates World Mobile Hospital, said "the hospital is a qualitative shift in the charity and humanitarian work launched by the UAE to assist the needy people", adding that the hospital includes, the surgery theatre, intensive care unit, 25 beds, emergency and accident unit, first aid care unit, medical equipment sterilisation unit, laboratory, radiology, maintenance unit, power generation unit, medical supply unit, heart surgery centre and other units.

Public institutions, private sector, and Non Governmental Organisations in the UAE are considerably contributing to the Emirates Mobile Hospital. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
