Emirates Post has issued a commemorative stamp to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The Dh. 1 stamp has been issued jointly by GCC postal administrations in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council. "The Gulf Cooperation Council is the foremost Arab regional bloc that promotes the economic, social and cultural progress of Arab states," commented Abdulla Ibrahim Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post.

"The work that began 25 years ago is being carried on effectively under the guidance of leaders like HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President. We are pleased to celebrate this historic occasion with a new stamp." The first Gulf Cooperation Council summit was held on May 25, 1981, in Abu Dhabi. Since then, the summit has been held every year. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
