Emirates Red Crescent opens expansion project in Syrian refugee camp

ERBIL: The Emirates Red Crescent, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, has opened an expansion project of a Syrian refugee camp in the province of Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The initiative reflects the Red Crescent's keenness to improve the refugees' conditions and provide them with greater care.

The opening ceremony, which coincided with World Refugee Day, was attended by Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, Acting Deputy Secretary-General of International Aid in the Red Crescent, and Rashid Mohammed Al Mansouri, Consul-General of the U.A.E. in the Kurdistan region of Iraq as well as a number of officials. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
