Emirates Red Crescent opens medical facilities in Yemen

SHABWA, YEMEN: A delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) has opened a medical centre in the area of Bi'r Ali, which is part of Radoum District in the governorate of Shabwa in Yemen, following the completion of maintenance and construction of an Emergency Unit, which is fully supplied with medical equipment financed by the Authority.

The opening ceremony was attended by two ERC supervisors, overseeing projects in Hadramaut, and the Secretary General of the Local Council in the District, Hady Sa'ad Al Kharmaa, along with a number of local authorities.

Abdulalh Al Musafery, Head of the ERC team in Hadramaut and Shabwa, confirmed that the opening of this project comes as one of many projects that the Red Crescent is working on in the governorate of Shabwa, to help its citizens overcome the crisis caused by the on-going war.

He pointed out that the cooperation by the governorate of Shabwa, which will witness in the coming days the launch of a group of health, service and infrastructure projects, alongside the continuation of the distribution of rescue supplies delivered by the UAE as part of the its efforts to support, revitalise and prepare the service and medical departments, as well as the rehabilitation and reconstruction of many medical facilities and services.

He said that the projects for re-construction and maintenance of medical facilities is only part of the work which will be carried out by the ERC in the governorate of Shabwa, as well as working on improving the humanitarian situation and providing a proper living standard for the area population.

The ERC delegation toured the centre and oversaw preparations in its pharmacy, laboratory and emergency unit, as well as listened to the Manager of the Centre discuss services that are to be provided to patients.

Hady Sa'ad Al Kharmaa, thanked the UAE for its support to vital departments in the liberated governorates of Yemen.

Additionally, the Manager of the Medical Centre, Ahmed Saleh Basuhaib, also expressed his gratitude to the UAE and the ERC for their efforts to support the infrastructure of the governorate of Shabwa, as well as the rehabilitation of the Medical Centre of the Bi'r Ali Area, which caters for some 10,000 people. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates-arab/1395306285179.html
