Al-MAFRAQ, JORDAN: Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent, Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, today stressed that the UAE continues to be a humanitarian leader and a supporter of victims of conflicts and natural disasters anywhere in the world.

He was speaking in an interview with WAM about the recent expansion of the Emirati-Jordanian Field Hospital in Al Mafraq which will offer a wider range of professional medical services to Syrian refugees in Jordan.

Al Falahi and other officials from the humanitarian agency toured the hospital at the camp to examine the new expansion.

The refugee camp, which is run by the Emirates Red Crescent and Emirati volunteers, is a source of pride for the UAE, he added.

"The Emirates Red Crescent firmly stands with all people affected by wars and natural disasters and continues to provide relief and humanitarian aid to all people regardless of their religion, race, colour," he said.

Al Falahi noted that the UAE maintains a strong humanitarian presence in the Philippines, Mali and Nepal in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the Emirates Red Crescent.

The expansions of the Emirati-Jordanian Field Hospital were funded by a generous contribution from H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
