The Emirates Red Crescent has started a new phase of supporting victims of floods in Malaysia, including the maintenance of affected homes in Pahang state, Malaysia, the most affected area in the floods that swept a number of Malaysian states last year.

Chaired by Fahad Abdelrahman bin Sultan, the Emirates Red Crescent delegation in Malaysia has set up the arrangements and mechanisms of maintenance work in coordination with local government and other competent departments.

The delegation has handed over cash aid for over 500 affected families and later it will distribute furniture in coordination with the U.A.E. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

In the same context, and in the light of its efforts to renovate vital facilities, the authority has revamped an orphanage and a mosque.

The Emirates Red Crescent delegation held a meeting with the competent Malaysian departments in the presence of Abdullah Mattar Al Mazrouie, U.A.E. Ambassador to Malaysia.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prince Abdullah bin Sultan Shah of Malaysia commended the U.A.E.'s stance towards the Malaysian people and said that this affirms the strong bonds between the Malaysian and Emirati peoples. He also extended thanks and appreciation of the U.A.E. efforts and the role being played by Emirates Red Crescent to alleviate the suffering of the Malaysian people.

Abdullah Mattar Al Mazrouie said that charitable work began with the establishment of the U.A.E. and it is one of the principals which has been instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and reaffirmed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with support from His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces and the relentless follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – Read more:
