Eye ID to check ban circumvention

An eye-screening for foolproof identification purposes has been made mandatory for all expatriates who leave the UAE after cancelling their residence visas and bearing a six-month ban on re-employment in the country. General Director of the Residency and Naturalisation Department of the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Hadhir bin Khalef Al Muhairy said on Saturday that the move was aimed at preventing those who have been banned from re-employment for six months from circumventing the measure by forging passport details and coming back to the country. Muhairy clarified that the six-month ban applies only for employment and not for visit on tourist or business visas. (The Gulf Today)
