Cairo - Speaker of the Federal National Council HE Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair said here yesterday that the recent assassination of a Palestinian Commander in Dubai is an act of transboundary terrorism that bore the hallmarks of Israel and its intelligence apparatus, which repeatedly commit such criminal acts and terrorist acts.

Al-Ghurair was delivering the UAE's speech before the Sixteenth Meeting of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union which began today at the Egyptian People's Assembly in Cairo.

"We believe that this action represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates according to the rules of international law and international resolutions that prohibit others to commit terrorist acts in the territory of a sovereign state", said Al-Ghurair.

He called upon the Arab Parliamentary Union to issue a resolution condemning the terrorist attack and expresses its solidarity with the UAE in handing over the perpetrators of this criminal act to the authorities concerned.

The Speaker also reiterated UAE's permanent stance towards the issues of the Arab nation and the Palestinian issue and called for reconciliation of Palestinian factions. He said that this reconciliation would also enhance the Arab-Arab relations.

Al Ghurair also stressed the right of the Arab countries to pursue nuclear programs for peaceful purposes and called for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through peaceful means and not to drag the region into new military adventures.

The FNC Speaker also reiterated the call on Iran to end the continuing occupation of UAE's three islands -the Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa- peacefully or through the International Court of Justice. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
