FNC discusses policy of the National Media Council on updating media laws

The Education, Youth, Information and Culture Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC) discussed during its 10th meeting here yesterday at the General Secretariat of the FNC, the report of Committee on "the Policy of National Media Council (NMC) on updating the media legislations in the UAE".

Chaired by Dr Muna Al Bahr, the Committee has decided to continue the discussions in the next meeting on Tuesday to endorse the report and submit it to the Speaker of FNC. The report includes the issue of national identity in the light of global openness, national culture and the role of media in inculcating the national identity in young generation, coordination between the radio and television channels, control over the advertisements in the satellite televisions, the Press and Publications Law and the Law on the Establishment of the Ministry of Culture and Information.

The Committee will also discuss the policy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
