FNC receives ICJ Chief

First Vice Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) Ahmed bin Shabib Al Dhahiri received yesterday at the FNC, International Court of Justice (ICJ) Chief, Judge Rosaline Higgins, who is currently visiting the country. Higgins was briefed on the legislative, control role and activities of the FNC for over three decades, and the recent developments in which half of the FNC members were elected and women participation in the parliament, which represents the highest women representation in the world parliaments.

Al Dhahiri referred to the progress of the UAE, particularly in the fields of economy, commerce and investment, and laws to protect this prosperity.

On her part, Higgins hailed the legislative role of the FNC and the women participation in parliament, adding that the UAE is keen to implement the international resolutions. She offered a book titled 'the International Court of Justice" as a gift to the FNC library, which has over 10, 000 books. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
