Falconcity of Wonders to be ready by 2017
posted on 07/10/2009

Falconcity of Wonders will take another seven to eight years to complete, meaning it won't be finished until 2017, according to the project's chief executive.
Salem Al Moosa, chairman and chief executive of Falconcity of Wonders told Gulf News that he would revisit the operations once Cityscape has finished. "This year we will be revisiting our operations. Revisiting depends on many parameters and the world financial problem also dictates... we have to look into the phasing of the project and the timing of the project," Al Moosa said.
Construction on the many cities within the project will begin next year, Al Moosa said.
Falconcity of Wonders is located in Dubailand and occupies a mammoth 40 million square feet of land.
The project is in the shape of a falcon, with the wings being reserved for villas and the rest of the 'body' for development of the theme park and the various cities.
Paris will be represented by an Eiffel Tower reserved for offices, New York and Central Park will be present, London and Big Ben, India and the Taj Mahal which will be a hotel and the pyramids of Giza in Egypt will also be developed. Venice will be complete with canals and gondola rides.
Underground infrastructure is almost complete and the first of four power stations will be ready in 10 months, at a cost of Dh100 million.
Around 45 per cent of the project is reserved. Once completed, the estimated permanent population of the city will be about 25,000. – Gulf News
