Fatima's eye care drive to conduct 2000 surgeries in Morocco

Rabat - A massive eye care campaign was launched yesterday at the town of Missouri, east of Morocco under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Sheikha Fatima has borne all costs of the health drive which is targeting poor population at Morocco's remote region.



The campaign was supervised by UAE Charge d' Affaires and Military Attaché Salim Khamis Al Ka'abi. The Moroccan Medical Solidarity Association has received a medical unit equipped with modern facilities donated by Sheikha Fatima during a ceremony held in Rabat under the patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.



Praising Sheikha Fatima, Governor of Poulman Ali ben Ibrahim said her humanitarian initiative would offer new hope for thousands of underprivileged population. 'The UAE under the leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is an example of the staunch supporter for Arab joint cooperation and development,' he added.



According to him, around 1200 eye tests and 400 eye surgeries will be conducted during the first phase of the mother of the nation eye care campaign The eye care convoy will travel around the country to conduct around 2000 surgeries in one year under the supervision of a group of voluntary eye doctors from both countries.
