Work has begun to build a fence along the UAE-Oman border to 'help fight illegal immigration and limit social and security threats', said Major General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, Assistant Undersecretary for Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior on 16 January. Armed Forces patrols will be assigned to guard the fence and entry points will be set up along the fence. He said, 'it will be difficult to fence off all the borders, particularly in remote areas such as the Al Buraimi area of Al Ain, Hatta, Sih Al Teeba and Sih Al Rodha and Dibba. Al Madam is an important security point to fence in at the middle of roads leading to Dubai and Al Dhaid. http://www.uae.gov.ae
