Finnish official hails cultural renaissance in the UAE

Jarno Peltonen, Board Chairman of Museums Authority in Finland discussed in Abu Dhabi yesterday with the officials of National Medical Council, media cooperation between the UAE and Finland.

During the meeting Peltonen described the art, cultural and social renaissance in the UAE as unprecedented, indicating that the UAE has become a model in the Arab region in which the cultural institutions have so far prospered in an amazing way.

The Finnish official toured Emirates News Agency (WAM), where he lauded the technical and professional standards of the editing and TV news and photo transmission sections.

He also visited the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, and discussed with the officials translation of the Finnish books into Arabic language. He also discussed transfer of the Finnish expertise in the area of museum management to Abu Dhabi.

The Finnish official toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Al Saadiyat Island and a number of cultural and tourism landmarks in Abu Dhabi. He visited the cultural site at Emirates Palace, which includes Al Saadiyat Island Coast of Museums and the Museum of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Peltonen stressed the significance of projects being implemented at Al Saadiyat Island, especially the Sheikh Zayed National Museum, Louvre Museum and Guggenheim Museum. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
