Moza Al Mazroui, the first Emirati actress who took the courage to step into the stage encouraging several others to join her in the following years was honoured yesterday at the closing ceremony of the Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre.
Moza pioneered the female presence in the local stage plays and contributed to the promotion of the Emirati theatre movement.
Moza received Theatre Personality of the Year Award from H.H Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), who patronised the Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre, an annual event that seeks to celebrate young theatre talent in the UAE. At the ceremony held at the premises of the Cultural and Scientific Association, Sheikh Majid also honoured a number of Emirati theatre artists who won prizes in various categories.
