Travellers through Abu Dhabi International Airport were accorded a colourful reception on Sunday as part of the Airport's celebration of the 36th anniversary of the UAE National Day. Both outbound and incoming passengers were able to catch a glimpse of the UAE rich culture as young local men performed some of the most popular traditional dances. One of those is "Harbiya" which depicts victory and celebrates pride in power and courage and is performed at weddings and other happy occasions.

The wonderful aroma of incense smoke wafting through the air, and the dancers' brisk moves and chants lent a festive atmosphere to the terminal building while chaps in traditional dress toured the place offering Arabian coffee and dates to passengers. Female travellers were offered the chance to try the henna tattoo at a special kiosk dedicated for this purpose.

"It is a source of pride for us to share with our guests the celebration of this dearest occasion. As a gateway to Abu Dhabi and the UAE, Abu Dhabi International Airport is always keen on enhancing cultural interaction between the UAE and the rest of the world," Mohammed Al Katheeri, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), said. "I hope travellers have enjoyed and cherished the memory of those moments and we surely are happy to have the chance to show them part of our rich heritage and deep-rooted traditions," he added.
