About 400 local and international firms will participate at the Abu Dhabi Environmental Exhibition and Conference which will be held in January-February 2005. The event will be held under the patronage of H.H President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Speaking to a group of diplomats and journalists, Ahmed Humaid Al Mazroui, Director General of the General Exhibitions Corporation for, said the number of the exhibitors at the show would increase by 30 per cent as compared to the 2003 exhibition.

This tremendous growth shows the success of the UAE exhibitions industry in the Middle Eastern region. He added that the importance of the exhibition and conference stems from the fact that the massive development witnessed by the region brought about greater environmental obligations. He added that the UAE would invest more than US$46 billions in environmental projects during the next ten years, according the World Banks estimates. He hailed the exhibition as an opportunity to exchange expertise and view the latest technological innovations in the fields of environment. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
